Important motorway sections towards Southeastern Europe to be completed
Truck drivers on the way to Southeastern Europe will have easier journeys in future. In 2007 several sections of important motorways will be completed:
Austria/Slovakia:
The A 6 northeast motorway between Bruck an der Leitha in Austria and the Kittsee border crossing into Slovakia will be completed by the end of 2007. This means there will be a continuous motorway connection between Vienna and Bratislava.
Croatia:
In Croatia a 37km section of the A1 motorway between Split/Dugopolije and Sestanovac was completed in June. This extends the Dalmatian coastal motorway from Zagreb to Split towards Dubrovnik. In 2008 a further 58 kilometres between Sestanovac and Ploce is also due to be opened.
Hungary:
Hungary is opening three sections of the M 7 from Budapest to the border crossing with Croatia at Letenye, an overall distance of 60 kilometres. These “missing” sections are to be completed between August and December and will create a continuous stretch of motorway from Budapest along the east coast of Lake Balaton to the border with Croatia in the direction of Zagreb.
